Frequently Asked Questions
Glossary
- BLS Signature
- Boneh-Lynn-Shacham signature scheme used for validator operations on Ethereum. Enables signature aggregation for efficiency.
- Withdrawal Credentials
- 32-byte value specifying where validator funds can be withdrawn. 0x00 prefix indicates BLS credentials, 0x01 indicates execution layer address.
- Validator Index
- Unique sequential number assigned to each validator on the beacon chain. Used as the primary identifier.
- Mnemonic
- 12 or 24-word seed phrase that generates all validator keys. Required for standard credential migration but not for this recovery mechanism.
- Post-Quantum (PQ) Signatures
- Cryptographic signatures resistant to quantum computer attacks. Future Ethereum upgrade will transition to PQ-safe algorithms.
- Domain Separator
- Unique identifier that ensures signatures are only valid in specific contexts, preventing replay attacks across different protocols or chains.
